The team was pretty exhausted after a long day in the Texas heat (and humidity). We packed up and came back to the hotel to get ready for the opening banquet at 7:30. Dr. Leeman Marks, the creator of the Solar Car Challenge, spoke to us about how he and a team of high schoolers started building a solar car back in 1989, and how that grew into the challenge we are participating in today. Some of the students from the first ever solar car team came up and spoke as well. We were joined at the banquet by Mr. Wang and William. Afterwards, we had some team bonding time playing cards and watching a movie together.
