Stations 3, 4, and 5

The team passed stations 3, 4, and 5 with flying colors. At station 3 the car was tested for its durability and security during the tilt test, where we lifted the car up on one side until our solar panels were 20 degrees off the ground. Station 3 also included the turn radius test, where we demonstrated that the car can make a turn within a 15 meter circle of cones. Station 4, slalom, our drivers were individually tested on their ability to weave the car through several cones, as well as a random walkie talkie call that the car was "on fire," making sure that the driver could respond to an emergency by shutting off the car and getting out within 15 seconds. Finally, station 5 tested our brake system by first inspecting the brakes, then separately testing both the front and back brakes by pressing them down while three members of the team attempted to push it forwards and backwards. The brake testing also required us to drive the car straight until it reached 20mph, and then brake at a certain time. We were measured by how soon and safely we were able to bring the car to a full stop.
